I'm preparing a short talk about how I made my Rooster side project. Last night I organized the gasp Figma file I used. 60% was designed by hand. 40% was generated by AI ‒ denoted with an LLM's favorite color.
I used Claude Code and the Figma MCP server for this. This toolset helped me brainstorm the layout for the main landing page. It also helped me try out subtly different color palettes. That was particularly helpful in making the various icon colors unique and unified.
What I didn't use it for? Figma components, the final color palette, the main onboarding flow, and the final design I implemented in the app.
This is the workflow I find myself using the most. AI is a useful partner and design material. But what's in my noggin' still does the heavy lifting.
